# SockOdds: the Australian extension of the SportsGameOdds schema

Why SockOdds speaks SportsGameOdds v2 unchanged, what it adds (every Australian book, AFL, NRL, cricket, rugby), and how to point an existing SGO integration at it in one line.

SportsGameOdds designed the best odds grammar in the market: one `oddID` per side of a market, every bookmaker nested underneath it, one event object with status, teams, players, results and odds. Thousands of developers have parsers, SDKs, dashboards and models built on that shape. What it doesn't carry is the Australian market — the books Australians hold accounts with, and the codes they bet on.

SockOdds is the Australian extension of that schema. Not a fork, not a "similar" API: the same paths (`/v2/events`, `/teams`, `/players`, `/sports`, `/leagues`, `/stats`, `/markets`, `/account/usage`), the same envelope (`{ success, data, nextCursor, notice }`), the same `oddID` grammar, the same `byBookmaker` block, the same status flags. Where SGO has FanDuel and DraftKings, SockOdds has Sportsbet, Unibet, TAB, PlayUp, TABtouch and 16 more. Where SGO has the NFL, SockOdds has the NFL too — priced by Australian books — and the AFL, NRL, NRLW, State of Origin, rugby union internationals and the IPL that SGO doesn't carry.

## What changes when you point an SGO client at SockOdds

- The base URL: `https://api.sockodds.com/v2`.
- The key: an SockOdds key (`so_live_…`).
- The `leagueID`s for the codes SGO doesn't have (`AFL`, `NRL`, `RUGBYLEAGUE_NRLW`, `IPL`) and the Australian `bookmakerID`s.
- Nothing else. Your parsing of `odds[oddID].byBookmaker`, `opposingOddID`, `status` and `nextCursor` runs unchanged.

## What SockOdds adds

- **Decimal prices.** Every `byBookmaker` entry carries `decimal` next to the American string.
- **Bet-slip deeplinks.** `links.betslip` describes how to land on the selection at TAB, Neds and others.
- **Honest freshness.** `info.stale` after 45 minutes without a source write; `info.lastUpdatedAt` on every event.
- **Honest metering.** Per-minute limits that bind under concurrency, a billing meter that never charges a 429, and `notice` when a plan filtered a response.

## What SockOdds does not do (yet)

- Stream. `/v2/stream/events` answers 501.
- Snapshot opening and closing prices. `includeOpenCloseOdds` is accepted but returns nothing.
- Price the world's leagues beyond what Australian books offer.

## Using both

If you already run on SportsGameOdds for the US market, add SockOdds for Australia: two base URLs, one parser. The join is on `eventID` and `oddID`. See [pointing an SGO integration at SockOdds](https://sockodds.com/docs/info/migrating-from-sgo/).
