FAQ

Short, straight answers to the questions developers ask most.

What is SockOdds?

SockOdds is a REST API for bookmaker prices that we record ourselves, for Australian and global sport. You get current prices from many bookmakers on one game in one response, readable keys for leagues, teams and bookmakers, recorded price history and graded results. The quickstart takes you from a new key to your first response.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. New accounts start with a seven-day Pro trial: 10,000 total objects, all supported public bookmakers and leagues, recorded history and streaming, at 10 requests per minute. No card is required and there is no automatic charge. After seven days or 10,000 objects, the same key returns to Developer. Existing Developer users can start their one-time trial from their account. Trial usage does not consume the Developer monthly allowance.

A Developer key is free and needs no card: 10 requests per minute and 2,500 objects per month, for a set of leagues and bookmakers. Paid plans raise the limits and add leagues and bookmakers, and Pro adds recorded history, opening and closing snapshots and the odds stream. Every plan is on the pricing page; create a free key to start.

What is an object?

Usage is counted in objects. Each record a response returns in data is one object, and each bookmaker price inside an odds response is one more. One game with 20 bookmaker prices uses 21 objects. Requests are counted separately against your per minute limit. Use markets=, bookmakers= and limit= to return only what you use; see best practices.

How do I send my key?

In the Authorization header as a bearer token: Authorization: Bearer <your key>. No other header or URL parameter is accepted. See authentication.

Can I call the API from a browser or a mobile app?

Not directly. Anyone can read a key shipped in browser code or an app bundle. Call SockOdds from your own server and serve your users from there, or from your own database.

Which sports, leagues and bookmakers do you cover?

The current lists are on the leagues, sports and bookmakers pages, last updated on 30 October 2026. Quoted markets vary by game, bookmaker and plan, so a league being listed does not mean every bookmaker prices every game in it.

How fresh are the prices?

Every price carries observed_at, the time we saw it. A quote older than ten minutes is withheld from current responses rather than shown as current. Prices are pre-match first: SockOdds is not a low-latency in-play feed.

Why is a price or a game missing?

Usually because we have no fresh quote for it: the bookmaker has not priced it yet, has taken it down, or we have not seen it in the last ten minutes. Your plan may also not include that league or bookmaker. A missing price is never evidence that the price is zero or that a market is closed.

What odds format do you use?

Decimal only. decimal_odds is the price exactly as the bookmaker showed it, and implied_probability is 1 / decimal_odds with the bookmaker's margin still in it. If your product shows another format, convert from decimal_odds in your own code.

How far back does price history go?

Recorded history goes back to 22 December 2025 for the leagues listed on History and snapshots, and to 8 October 2026 for every other league. It holds only prices we recorded ourselves, so a stretch we did not record has no rows. It records every change in price or availability, so a quiet market has few rows. History and opening and closing snapshots are part of the Pro plan; each history request covers a window of up to 24 hours. See price history.

Do you have results?

Yes. /v1/results returns graded outcomes for finished games, from official result sources. Each outcome is won, lost, void, dead_heat, or for a split Asian quarter line half_won or half_lost. Outcomes that official evidence cannot settle are left out, never guessed, so a result can be partial while some markets are still pending. See results.

Is there a streaming feed?

Yes, on Pro. The odds stream is a WebSocket that sends current prices for one game or up to 20 games in a league, checking every 15 seconds and sending a snapshot only when something changed. See streaming.

Can I find a game by its official id?

Yes. /v1/events/lookup finds our event from an ESPN event id, an AFL match id for AFLW, or an NRL match id for the Rugby League World Cup. See the API reference.

How do I get help?
